Yesterday, 30th June 2015, Don Bosco Care held a lunch with a dual purpose. In the first instance we wanted to acknowledge the wonderful contribution that our interns of 2014/15 have made to the lives of the young people that they have been working with since they started in Ballymun road, Drumcondra, and Blessington street. So we wished Natalia, Erin and Laura all the best with their future careers whether within Don Bosco Care or out in the wider world of social care. We also wanted to thank Trisha McDonnell our external facilitator for the work that she does, and in particular the support that she offers our interns. Martin Burke our Director of Services spoke very strongly about the importance of ethos to Don Bosco Care.
The second, but very important piece of our day was to highlight the wonderful work and contribution to the organisation offered over 25 years by Linda McGuinness. Linda works now in the monitoring office in TUSLA. Martin and Fr Val Collier spoke of their times working with Linda. Fr Val offered a very humorous story about a hamster, and then spoke of how Linda loved the young people in Don Bosco Care, and how they knew that she loved them, and loved her too. We had staff volunteers, interns and Managers from the whole organisation represented. It was a happy and inspiring couple of hours for us all before we headed back to our various locations and roles across Don Bosco Care.
As CEO I am very proud to work with such a vibrant bunch of people.
