A number of our centres and Salesian Confreres are involved in Prayer Ministry and Retreat work. One confrere has worked extensively on the development of Basic Christian communities both in Ireland and internationally and has published a number of books on this subject. Salesians continue to be involved in a wide range of pastoral, spiritual and educational activities, including active involvement at local parish level.

There is an involvement with lay groups by a number of the community.
Eucharistic Prayer Group meet on Tuesday evening from 8pm to 10pm and they undertake intercessionary prayer for Ireland.
Vocational Discernment and Atonement: On Wednesday evening there is a prayer group that prays for vocational discernment and in atonement for the sexual abuse in our society. The group begin at 7.30pm and pray for one hour.
Healing Prayers Group: There is a ministry of healing which includes prayer ministry and intergenerational healing (Family Tree Healing) in the context of the Eucharist.
CAST Night Vigil: CAST do a night vigil once a month on Thursday night beginning at 11.00pm and finishing with the celebration of the Mass at 7.00am on Friday morning. The name cast comes from psalm 55 ‘Cast your troubles upon the Lord’ and the group pray for:
C – Cancer
A – Addictions and Abortions
S – Suicides
T – Trauma and tension in our lives.
Mary Help of Christians: There is monthly Mass of Mary Help of Christians held on the 24th of each month.
Weekend Retreats: A number of two day retreats at weekends are held each year and it is planned that this programme will be expanded.
St Catherine’s, Maynooth
The house offers hospitality and support to a number of prayer groups and youth movements. A number of meeting rooms are available as well as a prayer room and main Oratory.
Life in the Spirits Seminars: Currently one prayer group is holding a very successful and well attended series of Life in the Spirits seminars on a Tuesday evening.
Youth 2000 : An university based branch of Youth 2000 meet on Monday evening during term time.
Legion of Mary: The local Legion of Mary meets on a Thursday evening in the prayer room.
A number of other local prayer groups are facilitated, and the main Oratory is open on a daily basis for prayer and adoration
