It is a strong Salesian tradition to promote among young people a strong sense of service and social awareness. Training in leadership for the young continues to evolve with the development of the Ceangail and Cinnirí programs in our schools where senior students are given the opportunity to mentor their peers and show responsibility for the running of the school.
Ceangail is a mentoring system established to assist new students in their first year at Salesian College. Ceangail members provide a good influence and a friendly face for the first year students. The team is responsible for the organisation of various school events throughout the year. The events include; first year orientation at the beginning of the school year, the activities night and the open night for prospective students. They also integrate with the new students at lunchtimes.
Each year staff and senior students work together to run Camp Bosco which is based in our school campus in Pallaskenry. Annually over 200 young people attend these camps and enjoy a variety of activities including sports, drama, cultural events, and spiritual moments including the very joyful camp Eucharist.
