There are 450 Salesian schools in Europe alone and each commit to being Catholic and open to all, especially those who are poor and are most in need.

There are two Salesian schools in Ireland, in Pallaskenry and Celbridge. There is one Agricultural College in Palleskenry.  The Salesians are Joint Trustees of the Heywood Community School, Ballinakill, Co. Laois with the Brigidine Order and Laois VEC.

Our system of education involves far more than merely imparting knowledge to the students, who need to become aware of their potential in any field – literary, artistic, sporting, farming, etc. The aim of our schools and colleges is that each person should become the person he / she can become with the help of those who care enough to work beyond the bounds of duty.

Don Bosco created the spirit of the family in his places of education, and believed that the spirit of goodwill, and the dedication of the staff, would encourage students to meet one another and the staff in an atmosphere of trust and understanding.

Students of our schools and college are encouraged to develop a strong sense of responsibility and caring attitudes towards one another and the community at large. We consider the parents and families of students to be important members of our extended Salesian community. We would not be able to achieve the outstanding all-round results without the partnership and cooperation of staff, students and parents.

In the spirit of Don Bosco, it is our hope that our schools and colleges will help to develop honest citizens and good Christians ready to serve society.
