Salesian College Celbridge is a boys’ school of over 700 pupils located in the growing Kildare town of Celbridge, Co. Kildare. The School opened its doors in 1981 and is dedicated to St. Dominic Savio.
The school community has developed its own motto following a process of discussion and reflection on the Salesian Preventive System: “We care, develop and believe – together we achieve”
As in every Salesian school, the staff with the local Salesian community is committed to creating a caring environment, to fostering respect for self, for others, for all creation and for truth, to help each member of the school community to develop fully, and to providing students with the skills that they need to meet life’s challenges with confidence.
Sport is a strong part of the extracurricular activities and the school teams have been involved in national and international tournaments. There are strong ties between the school and the local community. The Salesian school has an active Parents Association and Student Council.
Teaching and learning occurs in the context of a mixed ability setting which is supported by an innovative Special Needs Department. Special needs education began in Salesians Celbridge with paired reading and writing support at lunch time involving a number of staff and senior students. In 2005, a class was established for young people on the Autistic spectrum. The department now has its own dedicated building and numerous programmes which allow for appropriate participation of students across the whole school curriculum.
