What a surprise! In December, I met my first cousin Dunbar from Nepal, a country in South Asia with India to its south and Tibet to its north. He told me there are about 28 million people in his country and Iits capital is Kathmandu. Last April and May, they were hit by terrible earthquakes, which killed more than 9,000 people, destroyed houses and historic monuments across Central Nepal.
also met a lady named Vera from
Celbridge who is working to help people in Nepal who suffer from leprosy. Their NLT Nepal Leprosy Trust delivered 30 tons of emergency help to Sindupalchowk YDistrict, a remote area in the foothills of the Himalaya. Irish people donated €8,000, a Obig help as €90 provides a family of five with sufficient clothes, food, medicine, blan- kets and temporary shelter for a month!
