Passing on an Awareness of Creation

The world today seems to be going in the opposite direction to what God established at creation. What sort of education do we need to give our children to face this situation?

magine this story of “creation in reverse”:
In the beginning God created heaven
and earth. After several million years, people picked up courage and decided to take charge of the world and of the future. Then came the last seven days of history.
On the second day of the last days, the fish of the rivers died of pollution from industrial waste and the fish in the seas died from the dregs of large tankers and radioactive deposits in their depths. Birds died of poisonous gases, and animals were hit on motorways as they strayed in a daze brought on by the hellish traffic’s lead discharges. Even pet dogs died from the excess dye used to redden sausages. Evening came and morning came, the second day.

That story no longer sounds like science fiction. It reminds us of a fundamental principle: human beings are responsible for the world God has placed in their hands. We too easily forget that our small planet is like a clock with a delicate mechanism. Ecological disasters know no boundaries: all human beings live on and row the same fragile canoe.
